The introduction of “Acala Myo-o of the Emperor Temple” was written by a retired Taipower employee, and the monument was erected in December 2004.
The introduction of the monument records that during the Japanese colonial period, when the Taroko to Tianxiang section, also known as the “Gold Road”, was opened up, it was discovered that there were natural springs and abundant spiritual energy in the area. In order to pray for safe access to the project, the Japanese enshrined Acala Myo-o here for worship.

It is also said that when the early ancestors built the Central Cross-Island Bridge in this area, they also encountered earthquakes or typhoons that caused damage. Later, the masters instructed to ask Japan’s Fudo Myogo to take charge, and everything went smoothly!

There is a small temple in the cave below Ning’an Bridge, dedicated to Acala. It is said that at the end of the Japanese occupation, when the Japanese were digging a gold mining road, they brought a bronze statue of Acala from Japan to worship here to bless the smooth construction of the road. However, the statue later disappeared. In 1951, Taipower Company rebuilt the statue and renovated the temple. There is a spring in the temple, which is clear and cool.

There is a statue of Guanyin riding a dragon next to the spring;
Guanyin stands on the dragon head, which is meant to bring peace and prosperity to the world.

Recalling the past like a cloud of smoke…
Zhongheng Luoshao Station, Hualien-Taitung Landscape Romance, Taroko Lotus Pond Olympic Exploration Team, Hehuanshan Hiking Team…

When I was a student, I rode a motorcycle several times,
from Hualien City to Guanyun Villa and Hehuanshan Chong,
and almost always stopped to pay homage to the Acala at Ning’an Bridge.

I remember it very well. I remember it very well. One time, after the results of the entrance examination were announced,
I happened to return to the Taroko Visitor Center for work,
and in the evening, I begged Brother Cai, a volunteer guide at Taroko who was driving at the time, to drive me to the Acala Temple at Ning’an Bridge on the Zhongheng Highway to fulfill my wish.
It seems that I made a wish to pass the exam and come to the Zhongheng Highway to play.

How come I mistook Acala for Manjusri Bodhisattva?

In the past few years when Tianxiang was on duty, there were buses such as Taiwan Express or official cars available; but I rarely visited Acala at Ning’an Bridge in the Central Cross-Island …

【Repairing Buddha statues in the Ksitigarbha Sutra】
Scripture –
『Furthermore, Ksitigarbha: If in the future there are kings, Brahmins, etc., who come across pagodas and temples of the previous Buddhas, or sutras and statues, that are damaged and dilapidated, they will be able to make up their minds to repair them. Such kings, etc., may do it themselves, or persuade others, even hundreds of thousands of people, to make donations and establish affinity. Such kings, etc., will always be wheel-turning kings in hundreds of thousands of lives. If others make donations together with them, they will always be kings of small countries in hundreds of thousands of lives. They can also make up their minds to dedicate the merits in front of pagodas and temples. Such kings and others will all achieve Buddhahood, and the rewards of this are immeasurable and boundless. 』

Simple explanation:

“Furthermore, Ksitigarbha”: Let me explain it to you a little more clearly, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva! “If in the future”: If in the future, “there are kings, Brahmans, etc.”: All kings and Brahmans, etc. “Encountering the pagodas and temples of the previous Buddhas”: Encountering the pagodas and temples of the previous Buddhas. “Or when the scriptures and statues are damaged and dilapidated”: Or all the scriptures and Buddha statues are damaged and dilapidated, rotten, and the temples are also rotten, and the Buddha statues are also damaged. “They can make up their minds to repair”: They can make up their minds to repair the pagodas and temples of the Buddha statues. “These kings, etc.”: These kings and Brahmans, etc., “may do it themselves”: Or they may do it themselves. “Or they may persuade others”: Or they may persuade others to do it. “Even hundreds and thousands of people”: If he can’t do it alone, gather the power of hundreds and thousands of people, and everyone will come together to repair the temple.

“Donate to establish a connection”: Everyone, you donate a little money, he donates a little money, and together establish a connection with the Dharma.

Time returns to the present;
Thanks to President Liu of Hualien Four Mindfulness Association for helping to deal with the repair of the Dragon-riding Guanyin Buddha statue; Master Faxi is invited to establish a connection and offer it.

“Donate to establish a connection”: Everyone, you donate a little money, he donates a little money, and together establish a connection with the Dharma.
Thank you for helping President Liu repair the Buddha statue, and for all the donations we made; Avalokitesvara riding a dragon on the Central Cross-Island Highway Ning’an Bridge.

Those who see my body will develop the Bodhi mind
Those who hear my name will stop doing evil and cultivate good
Those who hear what I say will gain great wisdom
Those who know my mind will attain Buddhahood in this life
