The only two Bunun tribes on the East Coast!
Related sharing about the wonderful ethnic groups on the East Coast are as follows

One of the Bunun tribes on the east coast,
located at the high mountain forest base of Isozaki,
located on the coastal mountain range next to Provincial Highway 11.
A small group of Bunun people live here, and the Bunun settlement here is called the High Mountain Tribe.
I was a little surprised to learn that the high mountain tribe was the Bunun,
because I thought the Bunun were in Xinyi, Nantou, Zhuoxi, Hualien, and Haiduan, Taitung, so how could they be in Isozaki, Hualien on the east coast?

The Bunun people originally made their living by farming.
Their ancestors crossed mountains and moved from the Central Mountain Range to the Coastal Mountain Range,
living closely with the Amis people. They are the only Bunun people in Taiwan who live by the sea and fish in the sea. They are the Coastal Bunun people.

In the early days, the East Coast route from Provincial Highway 11 to Isozaki was mostly a winding mountain road, and most of the people going to Isozaki were playing at the beach,
because Isozaki is the only bathing beach on the East Coast! Or they might just pass by Isozaki in a hurry, because they have to go to Fengbin or Shitiping to eat seafood.
Currently, the Gaoshan tribe has become a high mountain forest base.
Gaoshan is not a very high mountain, it is the name of the tribe.
It is an activity venue focusing on ecological tourism, environmental protection, culture and experience.

It covers an area of about 1,000 hectares, with well-protected ecological environment and many wild animals and plants.
The base is rich in natural landscapes, such as primeval forests, waterfalls, cliffs, and especially the tropical rainforest-like landscape is amazing!

In addition, there are displays of Aboriginal culture and traditional arts.
There are many hiking trails inside,
all of which require reservations and cannot be accommodated at any time. You can choose according to your physical strength and feel the charm of nature.
Because it is the only Bunun tribe on the east coast, you can feel the culture and history of the Bunun people, a unique coastal farming tribe.
In the Bunun tradition, important sacrificial activities are indispensable. The Bunun people believe that their ancestors are connected to natural scenery, so they hold ceremonies in nature. In addition, there are many food culture experiences.
【Co-founder of Gaoshan Forest Base. Cultural Experience Guide / Gao Shan. The Bunun tribe (Dan community) is a pony. The alpine forest base is the last migration point of the coastal Bunun tribe. The land is full of historical stories. Following the flow of life of the old tribe, a large-scale zoning design is planned, from century-old trees, ancient hunting trails, to valley water sources, cave life, and terraced field relics. The base translates the hunters’ wisdom and culture into a healing experience, looking at the world through the eyes of animals and welcoming you with a sustainable forest. 】
【Co-founder and Course Director of Alpine Forest Base. Adventure Experience Guide /
The Alpine Forest Base is the former site of the Alpine Tribe, a tribe established due to the adventure of an old hunter (Xiao Ma’s grandfather). It has the DNA of adventure, which can transform stories, scenery and experiences into moving feelings that can be taken away from the heart. The base itself is a ceremony, and we just lead everyone in to experience the healing context. 】
The founder hopes to use his experience to build a protected area in the alpine forests and clear streams to provide experiential healing tourism and experience environmental protection, culture, history and ecological protection.
With the original intention of “sharing”, more people will understand the relationship between the indigenous people and the land.
It was given an adventurous name: “Alpine Forest Base”.
At the same time, various forest exploration, adventure experience, cultural and ecological knowledge experience were introduced;
Every traveler can return to the embrace of nature, awaken trust between each other, and get closer to their own hearts.
At the Hualien Alpine Forest Base, you can look out over the tranquil Pacific Ocean at any time, especially after a sweaty summer activity.
It’s awesome to look out over the Pacific Ocean right there on site!
At that moment, I don’t remember being tired, I only remember looking out at the Pacific Ocean.
